How Can I Have More Energy?

Read this and find out what gives us energy and what depletes our energy. Remember the days when you were little and would run through the sprinkler on those hot summer days? Your boundless energy lasted throughout the day. Now your years older and would like to recapture the energy of your youth.

The answer is not so simple. It depends on one's physical, emotional, and mental condition. Ask yourself how you do on each one.

Energy Drainers:

Some of you can relate to feeling tired and depleted. These are the things that pull the plug on your energy throughout the day.

  1. Lack of Sleep - Not being able to get to sleep and waking up during the night can really deplete the energy for the next day.
  2. Poor Eating - How many of you have made a meal out of coffee and a candy bar?
  3. Over Weight - My wife and I have realized a significant improvement in our energy level by losing 10 or more pounds. This wasn't easy but was well worth the effort.
  4. Depression - is the slowing down of all aspects of our person, emotional, physical, and mental.
  5. Anxiety or Worry - this can rev-up our systems till we are subject to weakened and over worked adreanals.
  6. Hypothyroidism - This results in a slower than normal energy and metabolism.
  7. Stress - Relationships or emotions that cause fear, guilt, worry, discouragement, undue prolonged pressure at work, financial stress without periodic relief can leave one more and more depleted.
  8. Medications - some of the side effects can be fatigue, weakness or sleep disturbances. If you suspect this might be the case consult your doctor.

Energy Boosters:

Balance is key when it comes to these components recharging the body with energy. All are important. If one is out of balance or unhealthy you can expect less than optimal personal strength and energy in your life.

  1. Sleep - most doctors recommend 7-8 hours of sleep a night.
  2. Healthy Balanced Eating and adequate Hydration.
  3. Regular exercise: Exercise at least 3-5 times each week. Start small and do something as often as you can.
  4. Balanced Hormones: Adrenaline, Serotonin, dopamine, estrogen, testosterone, and endorphins. Help these body chemicals work for you by getting the sleep & nutrition you need.
  5. Balanced vitamins and minerals: It is a well understood fact that our foods rarely have everything we need. Ask me about ways you can supplement your diet.
  6. Healthy Relationships - positive supportive friendships.
  7. Healthy Emotions - passion, joy, fun, humor, optimism.
  8. Healthy Mind - peace, purpose, love, good self concept,
  9. Healthy Spirit - at peace with God

If you or others have noticed your lack of energy lately give me a call. Let me do an energy assessment with you to help determine what maybe at the core of your tired feelings.
